I'm embarrassed to say that I cut off the corner off one of the fences, destroying a blade. 2) The included hold-down clamp closes in a way that tends to drop the side of your hand onto a vertical shaft - ouch.
I got it while my house was being remodeled, and you could see the envy on the contractors' faces. The angles are accurate and easy to set.
This thing simply does a great job. I'd like to be able to aim it to either side since feeding from the right doesn't suit my shop layout.
The cuts are very smooth. Power has never been an issue, even cutting 4x6 lumber.I really believe this deserves 5 stars, but I'm the sort of person who always has some minor complaints, so here's what I'd change: 1) The laser lines up with only the left side of the blade.
3) In an ideal world, it would not be possible to tilt the saw before moving the sliding part of the fence to a safe location. I'm relieved to say that this bad move didn't lead to any injuries.
I can't really review the saw itself(i'm not allowed to use it), but it's still working great almost two years later. It came without any issues and with speedy delivery.
I recently purchased this saw to install tongue and grove paneling in our new home. It came in good shape and was accurate out of the box. It is easier to operate compared to the other model that my contractor has.
I needed to be able to stow the saw on a shelf that is about shoulder height, so weight was also an concern. The saw did not require adjustment after delivery. When considering a double bevel miter saw, I was urged to get the Dewalt with a 12inch blade. Measurements confirmed that the cuts are as they should be. Ultimately I went with a Bosch 4410, which uses a 10" blade. This makes the saw much smaller and a bit lighter. The dust collector could be better, but this is a common problem on this type of saw from any vendor. I was able to get a good price on a Dewalt aluminum miter saw stand, and this connects to that without issue.
This is the best saw on the market. More durable, easier to read angles, consistent cuts, and many more things I love about this saw. It is more expensive than other chop saws, but you get what you pay for. The engineering that went into this saw is far superior than the competition. Only real down side is the weight. It is much heavier than other chop saws, but that is because of the durable materials it is fabricated from.
